Parti Yorkies: Everything You Need to Know About These Unique Dogs

Parti Yorkies are a type of Yorkshire Terrier with a distinctive coat that is made up of multiple colors, including black, tan, and white. They are not a separate breed from Yorkshire Terriers, but simply a variation of the breed with a different coat color.

Parti Yorkies are just as loving, affectionate, and intelligent as their traditional Yorkie counterparts. They are also relatively small, making them ideal for apartment living or families with limited space.

    Appearance:

Parti Yorkies can have a wide variety of coat patterns, including tri-color, bi-color, and even solid white. There is no true standard for Parti coloring, but some of the most common patterns include:

  • Tri-color: This is the most common Parti Yorkie pattern, and it features a mix of black, tan, and white fur. The black and tan fur is typically located on the head and body, while the white fur is typically located on the chest, belly, and legs.

  • Bi-color: This pattern features a mix of two colors, such as black and white or tan and white. The two colors are typically evenly distributed throughout the coat.

  • Solid white: This is the rarest Parti Yorkie pattern, and it features a coat that is completely white.

    Personality and Temperament:

Parti Yorkies are known for their energetic and playful personalities. They are also very affectionate and love to spend time with their families. Parti Yorkies can be good with children and other pets, but they may be wary of strangers.

      Grooming:

Parti Yorkies require regular grooming to keep their coats healthy and free of mats and tangles. It is recommended that you brush their coats at least three times per week and bathe them every few weeks. You may also need to take them to a professional groomer for regular trims.

      Health:

Parti Yorkies are generally healthy dogs, but they are prone to certain health conditions, such as:

  • Patellar luxation: This is a condition in which the kneecap dislocates from its normal position. It can be caused by genetics, injury, or obesity.

  • Portosystemic shunt: This is a birth defect that affects the liver. It can cause a variety of health problems, including stunted growth, seizures, and jaundice.

  • Tracheal collapse: This is a condition in which the trachea (windpipe) collapses. It can cause difficulty breathing and coughing.

If you are considering getting a Parti Yorkie, it is important to do your research and find a reputable breeder. Be sure to ask about the health history of the parents and puppies before making a decision.
